Rector honoured during visit to China
UN University Rector Hans van Ginkel was guest of honour at a banquet hosted by China's Vice Minister of Science and Technology, Shang Yong, during a visit to China in March.
Prof. van Ginkel briefed the Vice Minister about ongoing UNU projects in China, including the cooperative education program with Beijing Normal University in environment and sustainable development as well as the cooperative graduate course programme on environmental and ecological assessment with the Cold and Arid Regions Environmental & Engineering Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
Dr. van Ginkel said he hoped there would be closer cooperation between UNU and the Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology in the future.
Vice Minister Shang Yong expressed satisfaction with the results of China-UNU cooperation and the way it supported the efforts of the Chinese government in environmental protection and sustainable development.
