Trade and environment analyses revised in wake of Seattle fiasco UNU Press is releasing a new edition of the book Trade, Environment, and the Millennium to provide an overview of the key issues for negotiation at the World Trade Organisation's Qatar Ministerial meeting and beyond. In Trade, Environment, and the Millennium (2nd edition), contributors have revised their contributions to the first edition in light of the failed negotiations in Seattle and other developments in the WTO over the past two years. Contributors have also focused on the special interests of developing countries in the coming negotiations. Many WTO member governments believe that a new round of multilateral trade negotiations is essential in order to ensure a stable multilateral trading system that fully represents the interests of developing countries.
Trade, Environment, and the Millennium (2nd edition) is edited by Gary P. Sampson and W. Bradnee Chambers. Sampson, currently on leave from the WTO, is Professor of International Economic Governance at UN University Institute of Advanced Studies (UNU/IAS) and visiting academic at London School of Economics. Chambers is a Fellow and Coordinator of the Multilateralism and Sustainable Development Programme of UNU/IAS. |
