Kyoto Protocol focus of Problems and issues associated with implementation of the Kyoto Protocol on Climate Change will be highlighted when UNU Institute of Advanced Studies (UNU/IAS) hosts its second sustainable development roundtable in Tokyo May 9.
Participants in the roundtable, organised in conjunction with Japan's National Institute for Environmental Studies, will discuss implementation strategies of Japan and the European Union, carbon sinks as an implementation measure and the refusal of the United States to commit to the emissions targets set at Kyoto. Keynote speakers will be Dr Robert Watson, former chair of the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, Prof. Norman Myers, of Green College, Oxford, and Hideaki Shiroyama, Associate Professor, Graduate School of Law and Politics, Tokyo University. |
