INCORE staff organise conflict
Two senior academics from UNU Institute for Conflict Resolution (UNU/INCORE) have been working with Nigerian universities to develop conflict resolution programmes that will tackle the country's growing ethnic and religious violence. Research director Gillian Robinson and policy and evaluation unit director Cheyanne Church travelled to Nigeria with Dr. Marie Smyth of the Belfast-based Institute for Conflict Research to take part in a week-long workshop with African researchers and practitioners seeking more effective ways to manage conflicts. Organised by INCORE with funding from the Ford
Foundation and the British
Council, the workshop
was hosted by the Vice Chancellor of Nigeria's Ibadan University and drew
participants from Nigeria, Ethiopia, Ghana, Congo, Angola and South
Africa. |
