UNU/IAS launches sustainable The aim of the discussion was to identify actions that are expected to be undertaken by various actors (private sector, public sector, intermediaries, and local communities) in an effort to achieve the objectives of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD). The roundtable included a business perspective presentation of best practice in relation to access and benefit sharing (ABS) in Japan. In addition, experts from Europe discussed how the Bonn Guidelines fit with the tools available to implement the CBD and ABS regimes and discussed other measures required to ensure the equitable distribution of benefits from genetic resources and biotechnology. |
