UNU to host Euro-Japan sustainability seminar Three international experts in environmental legislation and administration will address a Euro-Japan seminar on the topic Towards Sustainability – Tasks and Challenges at UNU Centre, Tokyo, December 3.
The seminar will tackle the question of what can be done to ensure sustainable lifestyles and sustainable business enterprises in the future, with a focus on issues of safety, the environment and human security. Seminar participants will hear lectures by Atsushi Ooi, Deputy Director General for Global Environmental Affairs, Japan Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry; Dr. Ernst Ulrich von Weizsaecker, member of the German parliament and founding president of the Wuppertal Institute for Climate, Environment and Energy; and Prof. Dr. Friedrich Schmidt-Bleek, founding president of the Factor 10 Institute and former head of chemicals divisions with the OECD. United Nations University is hosting and organizing the event in cooperation with the Global Industrial and Social Progress Research Institute, the Institute for Global Environmental Strategies, and the Society of Environmental Science, Japan, supported by Nihon Keizai Shimbun. The seminar will take place from 10 a.m. to noon on Monday, December 3, in U Thant International Conference Hall (3F) of UNU Centre. For more information contact UNU Public Affairs. |
