UNU Press book wins ALA award
The UN University Press publication Beyond Violence: Conflict Resolution Process in Northern Ireland has won the Notable Government Documents award from the American Library Association Government Documents Roundtable. The book, written by former UNU International Conflict Research (UNU-INCORE) director Mari Fitzduff, investigates the factors which helped to end almost 30 years of bloody conflict in Northern Ireland. Fitzduff draws on her extensive first-hand experience of the peace process to outline the many strategic developments that enabled agreement to be reached. The author also examines the training and preparation necessary to increase people's capacity to undertake conflict resolution work, as well as addressing some of the lessons that have been learned about this kind of work, and how to successfully develop it. |
