Issue 24: March-April 2003 |
Conference planned on regional UNU Comparative Regional Integration Studies (UNU-CRIS) is calling for papers for its conference on Regional Integration and Public Goods, to be held in Bruges, Belgium November 20-21. Regional integration is evolving as a form of cooperation among states and non-state actors in different areas of the world, with a diversity in the scope of cooperation, the objectives and goals of the actors, and the nature of the institutional frameworks as well as policy areas that are the subject of regional action. Public goods have traditionally been provided by national and local governments and more recently and with limited effect at the global level. This conference will address issues and concerns around the provision of public goods (health, knowledge, environment, security, governance) at the regional level. The conference will consider theoretical, empirical and policy issues related to the provision of public goods in the context of regional integration. Persons interested in submitting a paper
should send a 250-word abstract to Mary
Farrell. Deadline for proposals is April 30. Further details of the
conference can be found on the CRIS
website. |
