WIDER conference to highlight
advances in poverty research

Recent advances in analytical concepts used to research poverty and inequality issues will be highlighted at an international conference to be held at the Marina Congress Centre, Helsinki, May 30-31.

The conference on Inequality, Poverty and Human Well-Being is being organized by UNU World Institute for Development Economics Research (UNU/WIDER).

With more than a billion people living on less than one dollar per day and with gaps in living conditions growing within and between countries, inequality, poverty and human well-being remain core issues for researchers and policy-makers alike.

Topics to be covered at the WIDER conference include:

  • Measuring Human Well-being
  • Spatial Inequality
  • Global Trends in Inequality and Poverty
  • Micro Simulation Studies
  • Modelling Approaches (Dynamic, CGE etc.)

The conference, which will cater primarily for researchers from the academic, government and development communities, will consist of a mix of invited and contributed papers. Selected conference papers will be published in a WIDER edited volume or special journal issue.
