Sustainable Global Futures UNU Institute for Advanced Studies (UNU/IAS) has released a report summarising the findings of its Sustainable Global Future project and addressing the challenges faced in achieving global sustainability. The project was launched in 1995 when UN University hosted the first conference on The Sustainable Future of the Global System to discuss key issues of sustainable development and alternative scenarios. Further conferences were held in 1999 and 2000. The new report – The Sustainable Future of the Global System: Endeavours from Rio to Johannesburg – summarises the proceedings of the three conferences, and includes results of the the UNU/IAS research project on a sustainable development framework for developing countries. |
