Conference on inequality, UNU World Institute for Development Economics Research (UNU/WIDER) is calling for papers to be presented at its conference on Inequality, Poverty and Human Well-Being to be held in Helsinki May 30-31, 2003. With more than a billion people living on less that a dollar a day and with gaps in living conditions growing with and between countries, inequality, poverty and human well-being are increasingly important issues for researchers and policy-makers. The WIDER conference will provide an opportunity to review recent advances in analytical concepts and methods and identify ways in which future reseach on inequality, poverty and human well-being can make best use of these advances. Topics to be covered include measuring human well-being, spatial inequality, global trends in inequality and poverty, micro simulation studies and modelling approaches. The conference will cater primarily for researchers from the academic, government and development communities. Selected conference papers will be published in a WIDER edited volume or special journal issue. Those wishing to present contributed papers should submit a paper title and abstract of no more than 200 words, using this application form. The deadline for submissions is December 31, 2002. |
