INTECH lecture on scientific
cooperation in Latin America

Dr. Hebe Vessuri

The distinguished Venezuelan academic Dr. Hebe Vessuri will discuss the extent to which Latin America is participating in and benefiting from international scientific cooperation when she delivers a public lecture at UNU Institute for New Technologies (UNU/INTECH) June 20.

Dr. Vessuri is an expert on the sociology and contemporary history of science in Latin America, science policy, the interface between scientific research and higher education, the sociology of technology and anthropological theory. She is currently head of the Department of Science Study at the Venezuelan Institute of Scientific Research.

Her lecture on Latin American International Scientific Cooperation will explore a range of issues including:

  • How is  cooperation organized in the region and what challenges does it face?
  • Has it supported Latin America in its process of integration at the international level?
  • Are all the countries of the region involved?

Dr. Vessuri's lecture will start at 4:30 pm June 20 in Conference Room 1 at INTECH, Keizer Karelplein 19, 6211 TC Maastricht. The lecture is open to the public. To register, contact Monique Seuren.
