Project: Researching Ethnic Conflict in Africa

The project brings together an experienced group of researchers from both within and outside Africa, with the primary objective to consolidate and compare experiences of research in Africa, in an effort to document the approaches, insights and dilemmas shared by researchers who operate in violent contexts. Secondary objectives are to expand an international network of experts with an interest in developing materials (text books, training packs, etc.) to promote the training of researchers in this area, and to heighten awareness within the research community of the special skill and sensitivities called for when working in violently divided societies.
