UN SECRETARY-GENERAL KOFI ANNAN WILL SPEAK AT UNU
TOPIC TO BE "JAPAN'S WORLD ROLE IN THE 21ST CENTURY"

FULL TEXT OF S-G's SPEECH

On the afternoon of Thursday, 11 November, United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan will speak at the United Nations University Headquarters in Tokyo. The topic of the Secretary-General's speech will be "Japan's World Role in the Twenty-First Century."

The Secretary-General will speak for approximately 20 minutes starting at 2:00 PM in the UNU International Conference Hall on the 3rd floor of the UNU Headquarters Building. English-Japanese interpretation will be provided.

Media representatives are cordially invited to attend the Secretary-General's speech.

Registration will open at the UNU Headquarters Building on Thursday at 1:15 PM. In view of the need to ensure appropriate security, we request that you arrive not later than 1:45 PM.
