UNU/IAS TO HOLD PRESS BRIEFING TO ANNOUNCE
THE 3rd JAPAN ZERO EMISSIONS NETWORK
UNU CONFERENCE

The United Nations University Institute of Advanced Studies (UNU/IAS) and Japan Management Association (JMA) will hold a press briefing on Friday, 30 October 1998, from 15.00–17.00 hours, concerning the 3rd Japan Zero Emissions Network UNU Conference to be held from Thursday, 12 November to Friday, 13 November 1998 at the UNU Headquarters.

It has been five years since the United Nations University launched UNU Zero Emissions Research Initiative as a practical approach toward “Sustainable Industrial Society.”

UNU/IAS, in cooperation with JMA will hold a conference to discuss Zero Emissions initiatives for Japan. The theme of this conference is “New trends of Zero Emissions from Industries and Regions.” The scope of applying zero emissions is extended to include regional communities as well as industries. Thus, new cases of Zero Emissions activities based on partnership among industrial sectors, national and local governments, research institutes and citizens will be introduced. The conference will be an important focal point for promoting active discussions on how to implement sustainability.

Media representatives are cordially invited to attend the press briefing. English-Japanese interpretation will be provided.
