UNU/BIOLAC announces 1999 course schedule
Since 1988, the UNU Programme for Biotechnology in Latin America and the Caribbean (UNU/BIOLAC) has helped train hundreds of young investigators through high-level courses offered in various regional laboratories and institutes as well as through the exchange of investigators among laboratories, encouragement of collaborative projects, and workshops organized by the members of its associated research networks.

In March 1999, UNU/BIOLAC offered the following courses in Venezuela and Mexico:

  • Advanced Courses on Molecular Biology Techniques; Institute de Investigaciones Científicas, Caracas, Venezuela; 6-14 March
  • 4th International Course of Analyses and Manipulation of the Plant Genome; Centro de Investigación y Estudios Avanzados del I.P.N., Unidad Iraputo, Guanajauto, Mexico; 8-19 March
In the period May through July, UNU/BIOLAC will offer courses in Chile, Mexico, and Venezuela:

  • Use of DNA Profiling in the Identification of Individuals, Applications in Forensic and Paternity; Instituto de Estudios Avanzados I.D.E.A., Santiago, Chile; 1-20 May
  • Advanced Techniques for Molecular Genetics in Myobacterias; Instituto Venezolano de Investigaciones Científicas, Caracas, Venezuela; 3-15 May
  • Environmental Biotechnology: New Processes and Applications; Instituto de Ingenieria, Universidad Autónoma de México and Centro de Investigación en Biotecnología, Universidad Autónoma del Estado de Morelos, Cuernavaca & Morelos, Mexico; 21 June-2 July
