Liang Luohui
Academic Programme Officer
Mr. Liang graduated from Department of Geography, Peking University in 1984. He received his Master's Degree of Science from Institute of Geography, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1987, and Graduate Diploma in Land Use Planning from School of Urban and Regional Planning, University of the Philippines in 1993. He served as a Land Use Planning Officer at Land Management Bureau of Yunnan Province, China from 1987 to 1998. He was an Honorary Research Fellow at Department of Land Economy, University of Aberdeen, Scotland from 1995 to 1996. He had received several awards from Peking University, the State Land Administration of China, and China Society of Land Science from 1984 to 1994. He served as Managing Coordinator of the GEF-funded global initiative on People, Land Management and Environmental Change (PLEC) from 1998 to 2002.
He currently serves as an Academic Programme Officer at Environment and Sustainable Development Programme, United Nations University. His main interests focus on conservation of biodiversity and sustainable land management in agricultural landscapes. He is a member of the Editorial Board of Journal of Mountain Science. Mr. Liang has published 15 papers and book chapters, and edited two conference proceedings.
