C. K. Tan has obtained PhD. from the Graduate School of Science and Technology of Nagasaki University in March 2006. His expertise is ocean satellite remote sensing and GIS. He studied at Universiti Putra Malaysia where he obtained MS. in Remote Sensing and GIS. Before coming to Japan, He worked as GIS Engineer and certified ESRI GIS instructor at ESRI (Malaysia). His main research interests are ocean color variations in the Asian regions, harmful algae bloom, ocean monitoring system, and climate change.
