Dr. Libor JANSKY

Libor Jansky is currently Senior Academic Programme Officer of the Environment and Sustainable Development Programme, at the United Nations University Centre in Tokyo. Prior to joining UNU in 1999 he has been Senior Lecturer in environmental science at the Comenius University in Bratislava, Slovakia. Dr. Jansky was acting Secretary of the Slovak National Committee of International Commission on Irrigation and Drainage (ICID) and served as an advisor for international cooperation at the Ministry of Agriculture, Slovakia. In 1992-3 he was a diplomat at the Slovak Embassy in Tokyo. He is representing the UNU in several international processes including the International Partnership for Sustainable Development in Mountain Regions, Asia Forest Partnership, Ministerial Conference on Protection of Forests in Europe, and serving as a UNU Focal Point for the GEF project on Land Management in the High Pamir and Pamir-Alai Mountains. Libor Jansky is Professor of Land Management and Conservation conferred by Mendel University of Agriculture and Forestry in Brno, Czech Republic. He holds PhD and a second doctorate (habilitation) from the University of Forestry and Wood Technology in Zvolen, Slovakia. He was Visiting Fellow at University College and St. John's College in Oxford, UK. He is the author and/or editor of Soil Physics I. - Basic Physical Properties of Soil (2000), Water Erosion and its Control (2001), The Danube - Environmental Monitoring of an International River (2004), Forests in Transition I. & II. (2003, 2004).
