his publication is based on a regional meeting organized under the United Nations University project on People, Land Management, and Environmental Change (PLEC). The authors include leading West African and international scholars working to preserve biodiversity and promote sustainable management of the agroecosystems of Ghana. Emphasis is given to the value of indigenous practices and their adaptations to rapidly changing conditions - practices that may hold the key to sustainable development in the region.
