UNU Press welcomes proposals to re-publish UNU Press titles for localized markets, either in English or in translation. We especially encourage republication in developing countries by local publishers that are able to produce low-cost editions for their local communities. Our local partners hold copyright over their own local editions of UNU Press titles. Please note that no re-publication, re-printing, or translation can be lawfully undertaken without the advance agreement of United Nations University.

1. Non-saleable and non-profit use
- UNU Press authorises the reproduction of up to one chapter or 10% of the volume of any single book (whichever is larger) for use by individual scholars, non-sale coursepacks and similar disbursements free of charge.
- A maximum of 100 copies can be made in any calendar year by a single institution.
- All such reproduction should contain clear bibliographical details of the material including the copyright notice of the United Nations University, the ISBN and full title of the book, and the name(s) of author(s)/editor(s).
- Advance permission is required in all cases.
- Details of all qualifying reproductions should be provided to UNU Press in the year in which the reproductions were made.
2. Saleable reproduction
- UNU Press charges reproduction fees depending on the amount of material reproduced for resale, and for all non-profit reproductions in excess of one chapter or 10% of the book, whichever is larger.
- Permission must be obtained from the UNU Press in writing (by post or email), and funds paid to UNU Press, in advance. When making a request, specify the following:
- The title of the work and ISBN.
- The names of the authors(s)/editor(s).
- The sections (pages) to be copied or reprinted.
- The number of copies to be made.
- The name of the institution.
- The name of the course.
- Responsible person and contact details.
- All such reproduction should contain clear bibliographical details of the material including the copyright notice of the United Nations University, the ISBN and full title of the book, and the name(s) of author(s)/editor(s).
