Accountability for Atrocity

The Conference will bring together the pre-eminent specialists in this field for a meaningful and timely debate on these evolving issues. Several of the past and present international prosecutors will participate in this event, making it a major - and historic - opportunity to reflect upon the development of international criminal accountability as well as consider future prospects.

The conference will focus on issues relating to prosecutorial discretion, judicial independence, and the relationships between criminal prosecution and the alternatives, such as truth and reconciliation commissions.

Luis Moreno-Ocampo, Chief Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court; William Schabas, Professor and Director, Irish Centre for Human Rights; Carla Del Pont, Prosecutor of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia; Lloyd Axworthy, Professor and former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Canada; Theodor Meron, President of the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia; Mary Robinson, former United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights; Maureen Harding Clark, Judge at the International Criminal Court; Gerald Gahima, the Procurator-General, Republic of Rwanda; and Ian Martin, Vice-President of the International Centre for Transitional Justice.
