Kofi Annan encourages Japanese students

Secretary-General Kofi Annan encourages Japanese students to consider entering international service in an hour-long discussion on 22 October at UNU Headquarters. During his visit that day, the S-G also spoke to Japanese scholars gathered to inaugurate the Academic Council on the United Nations System in Japan, which will funnel useful information from Japanese universities to the United Nations. His four-day visit was set to coincide with the Second Tokyo International Conference on African Develop-ment, which he addressed twice; the S-G also gave a press conference at the Japan Press Club.
