Dr. Philippe Douste-Blazy, Special Adviser to the Secretary-General of the United Nations on Innovative Financing for Development and Chairman of the Executive Board of UNITAID, will talk about how innovative financing can contribute to achieving the UN Millennium Development Goals and discuss a variety of innovative financing mechanisms for development. Simultaneous English–French–Japanese interpretation will be provided.

Peter Maurer, Switzerland's Secretary of State, will deliver a lecture on "Swiss Foreign Policy between European Priorities and Global Necessities". He will discuss how Switzerland approaches today's shifting global needs, and how it is able to link European priorities with those needs. Simultaneous Japanese–English interpretation will be provided.
