Training to facilitate the participation and empowerment of Traditional Knowledge (TK) holders in the UNFCCC processes and other relevant policy processes is a vital need. Responding to the numerous calls for a short explanatory and introductory guide for indigenous people, the UNU Institute of Advanced Studies (UNU-IAS) prepared a series of short guides to help Indigenous communities navigate the current international debate on climate change.
The UNU-IAS TK Guide Series includes:
Emissions Trading and Carbon Financing Guide;
REDD Guide for Indigenous Peoples;
Carbon Guide for Northern Indigenous Australians and
The IPCC has identified local knowledge as an important missing element in its previous assessments and a focus for its next assessment process. The UNU-IAS Traditional Knowledge Initiative looks at this important area.
