January 2001 - Certification.

April 2001 - Completion of Initial Draft of Green Procurement Manual.
May 2001 - Completion of Final Draft of Green Procurement Manual.
June 2001 - Presentation to JICA Training Programme on the UNU ISO14001 EMS.
August 2001 - ISO14001 news item on the UNU Homepage - Japanese Site.
October 2001 - Presentation to Nihon Chiiki Gakkai Workshop organized at Kyoto University. Information on UNU EMS included in Rector's report to UNU Council and the Academic Programme and Budget for 2002-2003.
November 2001 - Training for UNU and UN Personnel.
2002
January 2002 - 2nd Internal Audit Implemented. Completion of 2nd Environmental Review. UNU ISO14001 online documents updated. UNU Report to WSSD Prepcomm in New York includes recommendation on the Greening of the UN.
February 2002 - ISO14001 Poster Published. Submission of 2nd Internal Audit Findings to SOM, 1st Surveillance Audit by JSA.
March 2002 - UNU ISO14001 Initiative introduced through the UNU Annual Report.
June 2002 - ISO14001 Implementation Officer appointed
September 2002 - Environmental Review 2001 and Draft Waste Management and Recycling Policy developed
November/December 2002 - Training for UNU and UN Personnel
2003
January 2003 - Implementation Plan 2002-2003 (including targets and objectives) developed, and 2nd Surveillance Audit completed
February 2003 Training for Sanko contractor staff completed
April 2003 - JICA representatives visit UNU to discuss how to develop a ISO14001 initiaitve
October 2003 - Simulated Evacuation Drill undertaken, and Kids ISO14000 Programme signing ceremony (between Artech and ISO)
November 2003 - Communications Records Management Report (COREMA) prepared - a commitment to investigate paperless office concepts and better internal management communicationand integration
December 2003 - Training for UNU and UN Personnel
2004
January 2004 - 3rd Internal Audit completed, Environmental Review 2004 and Implementation Plan 2004-2005 (including targets and objectives) developed, and 1st Reassessment Audit completed.
March 2004 – UNU passed the JSA’s Judging Committee for Reassessment
October 2004 – ISO14001 Steering Committee call for competitive fee proposals for registrar and auditing services
December 2004 – ISO14001 Steering committee receive 4 competitive fee proposals for registrar and auditing services
2005
January 2005 – ISO14001 Steering Committee engage DNV Japan as new ISO14001 registrar
April 2005 – Transition audit undertaken with DNV Japan (transfer the registration details from JSA to DNV Japan)
May 2005 – UNU receives new certificate from DNV Japan with dual accreditation scheme JAB and UKAS
2006
February 2006 – 1st Periodic audit undertaken with DNV Japan including transition to new standard - ISO14001:2004, Environmental Review 2006 completed
July 2006 – UNU receives new certificate from DNV Japan with dual accreditation scheme JAB and UKAS for ISO14001:2004
September 2006 - 4th Internal Audit undertaken
2009
December 2009 - Renewal External Audit has been successfully completed.
